How to treat dark circles

One of the first places where we show visible signs of ageing is our eyes. This is because the skin surrounding our eyes is the most sensitive, delicate and thinnest skin on our body.  The thinness of the eye area leaves the skin open to damage. Some of the causes of those pesky dark spots include genetics, excessive sun exposure, rubbing or scratching your eyes, a lack of iron, poor nutrition, stress and dehydration.

Are you sick of always looking tired and older than you are? Well with advancements in technology there are many products and ingredients you can use to help combat, postpone, and even visibly change the way your eyes look.

Check out some remedies that we recommend:

1. Eye creams: Eye creams are an important product that work to reduce the effects of dark circles. It is recommended that you apply an eye cream twice a day, every morning and night. Look for products containing Vitamin C as it encourages collagen production, helps get rid of free radicals and brightens your skin tone. Eye creams are amazing, they are like beauty sleep in a bottle. (Intensive Eye Complex)

2. Eye masks: Unlike eye creams an eye mask can be used when you’re looking for something that will leave you feeling bright-eyed in no time. All you have to do is pop one on and in as little as a few minutes they start working their magic, leaving your eyes softer, smoother and more youthful looking. (ageLOC® Galvanic® Eye Mask

 3. Preventative measures: It is important that you take all the preventative measures required to help dark circles. Always wear sunglasses when you are outside to protect the delicate eye area from harmful UVA rays. Other lifestyle choices like smoking and excessive alcohol consumption can affect the appearance of your eyes. Make sure you avoid these behaviours to prevent the ageing process.

4. SleepIt is important that you get at least 7 hours of sleep a night if you want to look healthy and glowing. Sleep deprivation can cause your skin to look dull, allowing for dark tissues and blood vessels beneath your skin to show.

5. Vitamins: Vitamins are important and are needed as protection against the ageing process. Vitamin C is great for dark circles under the eyes as it increases collagen and improves the ligaments under your eyes. Vitamin K is also important and can be found in broccoli, brussel sprouts and many green leafy vegetables. This Vitamin works to improve blood circulation which can decrease the appearance of dark circles.

 6. ConcealersAlthough it is only temporary, a concealer is a quick and easy fix for dark circles. It will instantly give the skin a flawless appearance and cover up any imperfections.

One of Nu Skin’s best anti-ageing eye creams is the ageLOC® LumiSpa® Accent which targets the delicate under-eye area. This device uses a soft treatment head and topical solution to gently exfoliate the skin while deeply stimulating the delicate area under the eyes. (ageLOC® LumiSpa® Accent)

For a quick an easy fix you can also use our ageLOC® Galvanic Spa® Eye Mask which works to rescue saggy, tired-looking eyes with immediately visible plumping, smoothing, lifting energy for a wide-awake, youthful appearance. (ageLOC® Galvanic Spa® Eye Mask)

Overall, it is important that you treat your delicate eye area by using eye creams, eye masks, taking preventative measures, getting enough sleep and consuming foods that are high in Vitamin C and K. If dark circles do persist a concealer is a great go to for a quick and easy fix.
