The Partnership between Nu Skin Malaysia and IJN Foundation
In June 2008, the Nu Skin Malaysia-IJN Foundation Heart Surgery Project for Children was formed with the aim of funding corrective heart surgeries of needy children from impoverished families. Nu Skin Malaysia’s commitment is to aid 1 child per quarter, by contributing up to a maximum of RM25,000 per corrective heart surgery, starting with an initial sponsorship of RM100,000 to IJN Foundation.

Funding for this project comes from grants from Nu Skin’s Force for Good Foundation as well as sale of Force For Good premiums, and contributions from employees and distributors of Nu Skin Malaysia.

PHILIPPINES

CHILD-updated

Through the Southeast Asia Children’s Heart Fund, a total of 133 children from the Child Health in Life and Development (CHILD) Foundation of the Philippine General Hospital (PGH) have been provided funding for surgery since the start of the partnership. In year 2010, 43 children with congenital heart disease were operated on through this Force for Good initiative, and in 2011 alone, 61 more lives were saved. Apart from the donations for surgery, Nu Skin was able to provide a 2D Echo Machine (worth P1.6 Million) and an i-STAT Analyzer (worth P 600,000) to CHILD in 2010, which were much-needed by PGH’s Department of Pediatric Cardiology.

This 2012, SEACHF through Nu Skin Philippines renewed its partnership with the CHILD Foundation.  In the first half of the year, SEACH provided a portable cardiac monitor worth P650,000 and a donation of P 2.5 Million for the funding of 50 surgeries.  Other FFG programs such as 1% Commission Contribution, “A Life A Day”, FFG commemorative item-selling and the Back-to-School program are ongoing, to further support CHILD Foundation.  The target for 2012 is to sponsor surgeries of 75 children and provide other vital medical equipment to the foundation.

CHILD Foundation

Experiencing first hand the ever increasing financial need of the Department of Pediatrics in taking care of the pediatric patients of the Philippine General Hospital (PGH), a dynamic group of senior consultants and alumni of the Department of Pediatrics and University of the Philippines College of Medicine banded together and established the Child Health in Life and Development (CHILD) Foundation, Inc. in 1988. They have heard and seen patients admitted in their units who expired because of severity of disease condition coupled with dearth of resources to procure needed medicines and to undergo needed procedures. This was compounded by increasing number of pediatric patients brought to PGH for much needed tertiary care.

Nu Skin Philippines has formed a partnership with Child Health in Life and Development (CHILD) Foundation in 2008 to help raise funds and alleviate the growing number of indigent pediatric patients in need of corrective heart surgery.
