Dr. Joe Chang

Joseph Y. Chang, Ph.D.
Chief Scientific Officer and Executive Vice President, Product Development

 

Joseph Y. Chang, Ph.D., was appointed Chief Scientific Officer and Executive Vice President of Product Development in February 2006. Dr. Chang enjoys a comprehensive knowledge of both the pharmaceutical and dietary supplement industries and serves as a member of the Executive Committee for Nu Skin Enterprises. He formerly served as president and chief scientific officer of Pharmanex. Prior to Pharmanex, Dr. Chang served as both president and chief scientific officer at Binary Therapeutics, Inc. from 1994 to 1997 and at OsteoArthritis Sciences, Inc. from 1991 to 1994. He has also held various executive research management positions at Wyeth-Ayerst, Rhone Poulenc Rorer and other biotechnology companies, where he was involved in researching natural products for arthritis and cancer treatment. A prolific author, Dr. Chang has published numerous articles, reviews and books on pharmacological research during his nearly 20 years in the health care industry. He received a B.S. degree from Portsmouth University and a Ph.D. from the University of London.


Helen Knaggs

Helen Knaggs, Ph.D.

Vice President of Global Research and Development for Nu Skin

 

Dr. Helen Knaggs has nearly 20 years of experience in skin research and product development. Her expertise in skin and hair biology has helped produce numerous publications and patents.

She currently serves as vice president of Nu Skin Global Research and Development where she works closely with the Nu Skin Scientific Advisory Board to identify the latest research and trends in skin care for the Nu Skin brand. Previous to her appointment at Nu Skin, Dr. Knaggs worked for Unilever in the United States and Asia. Most recently, she was the Southeast Asia development manager for skin care products and worked with the company’s Aviance brand in Thailand. In addition, Dr. Knaggs spent several years as a research biochemist in the dermatology department of Leeds General Infirmary where her work involved clinical and lab research, interpretation of trial results and data reporting to corporate and scientific communities. Dr. Knaggs earned bachelor’s degrees with honors in biochemistry and pharmacology, and a doctorate degree from the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of Leeds, England.


Mark Bartlett, Ph.D.

Vice President of Global Research and Development for Pharmanex

 

Mark Bartlett, Ph.D., oversees research and development for all Pharmanex® products. Dr. Bartlett’s research experience includes work in the area of cardiovascular disease with an emphasis on the role of free radicals and antioxidants, transplant research, and human autoimmune inflammatory diseases. He has published more than a dozen papers on this work in various scientific journals. Dr. Bartlett’s research led him to the United States’ National Institutes of Health where, as a visiting scientist at the world-renowned National Cancer Institute, he investigated the interaction of T cells with the blood vessel wall. Dr. Bartlett’s interest in the role of nutrition in human health and disease led him to join Nu Skin Enterprises in 1996 as a technical specialist and scientific advisor. He has since formulated many supplements and sports food products for the United States, Japan, Taiwan, Korea, Hong Kong, and Australia. Dr. Bartlett holds degrees in biochemistry and organic chemistry from the Australian National University and a Ph.D. in Immunology and Cell Biology from the John Curtin School of Medical Research in Canberra, Australia.
